ABOUT SNAKE OIL
We made the recovery drink we couldn’t find.
Crafted in Tucson by two guys who got tired of losing days to mornings they could’ve prevented.
Every recovery product was built for the wrong person.
The miracle-cure recovery market is built for college kids who want to pretend last night didn’t happen. The wellness market is built for people who never went out in the first place. The energy drink market is built for people who think they can replace sleep with stimulants.
None of them are built for the adult who had a great night, a hard week, or a brutal Tuesday — and still has to show up.
So we built one.
Here’s how it started.
We didn’t set out to build a company. We set out to fix a problem we both had — and that everyone we knew had — and that nobody had actually solved.
Jeff is a lawyer. He works hard, plays hard, and spent years losing Mondays to weekends he refused to apologize for. John is a chemist. He spent years buying recovery products that promised the world and delivered nothing. Both of us read the ingredient panels. Both of us tested the products. Both of us came to the same conclusion at roughly the same time:
Most of that stuff is junk.
The expensive ones are usually full of fillers and theatrical ingredients that look great on a label but don’t move the needle. The cheap ones are sugar water with a vitamin or two thrown in. The “natural” ones leave out the actual molecules the research keeps pointing to. The “scientific” ones bury their real ingredients under proprietary blends so you can’t tell what you’re getting.
The whole category was built to extract money from people who didn’t know what they were buying.
So one of us — we still argue about which one — said: we could just make our own.

Two years in a Tucson kitchen.
What followed was two years of formulation. Real formulation, not “we mixed three things together and put a label on it.”
John pulled studies. Jeff pulled together a small group of friends — lawyers, doctors, nurses, contractors, performers, parents — who agreed to test what we made and tell us honestly what worked. We tried every published recovery compound we could source. We mixed ratios. We rejected ingredients that looked good on paper but did nothing in practice. We landed on glutamine as the foundation and built the formula around what the body actually does during recovery. We chased down N-acetyl glucosamine when we realized everyone else was ignoring joint and gut tissue — and we paid more to source ours from plants instead of shellfish so anyone with a shellfish allergy could still use it. We argued about taurine and dextrose ratios until the math made sense. We figured out which B-vitamins matter at what doses and which ones are just packaging filler. We picked natural flavors and natural colors so the only thing artificial in the formula is a small amount of sucralose for sweetness.

We threw out the first dozen versions. We narrowed the next dozen down to three. We tested those three across hundreds of mornings.
And then we had it.
We built it ourselves — but we had good people in our corner along the way. Reganne kept us honest, the steady voice of reason every time two guys with a good idea threatened to get carried away. Max and Martin, a couple of decades younger than us, made sure we weren’t building something only people our age would get. And Gator, Jeff’s dog, sat in on roughly every meeting we ever had, contributing nothing actionable and somehow everything.

“We spent countless mornings testing every so-called ‘fix’ under the sun until we brewed up the one that actually made us feel human again.”
The formula on the back of every Snake Oil pouch is the result. Every ingredient earns its spot. Every dose has a reason. Nothing is in there to look good on a label. Nothing is left out because it was expensive or trendy or hard to source.
It works because we made it work.
About the name.
We knew what we were going to call it before we finished formulating it.
In the 1800s, “snake oil” purveyors traveled the country selling miracle cures for bad blood, smarting joints, lameness of sight, flat feet, and early decay. Most of it was scented mineral oil. None of it worked. The phrase “snake oil” became American shorthand for anything that promised everything and delivered nothing.
We named our product Snake Oil for two reasons.
The first is that we have a sense of humor about the supplement industry. Most of what’s on the shelf today is the same scam in different packaging. Calling our product Snake Oil is our way of saying: we know what this category looks like, and we’re going to be different.
The second is that the only way to fight the snake oil reputation is to actually deliver. If we make a product worth your time, the name becomes a joke we get to be in on. If we don’t, it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy.
We chose the name because we were confident in the product. So far, that confidence has held up.
Legendary Lies, Legitimate Relief
What we promise. What we don’t.
We promise the product is real. Every ingredient on the label is in the formula. Every dose has a reason. Every batch is tested for quality and consistency at a third-party facility that follows current Good Manufacturing Practices.†
We promise the recovery support works for most people. We’ve tested it across hundreds of mornings, sent it to dozens of testers, refined it over two years. The math is sound. The ingredient stack is grounded in research. The taste is good enough that you’ll actually drink it.
We promise we won’t sell you on a lifestyle. We won’t tell you to drink less, sleep more, or “optimize your wellness.” That’s your business. Our job is to make a product that helps your body do what it’s already trying to do — rehydrate, replenish, recover — faster and more completely than it would on its own.†
We don’t promise:
- That Snake Oil will turn a bad morning into a great one. It supports recovery; it doesn’t perform magic.
- That it will work the same for every person. Bodies are different. Try it. See what happens.
- That every claim on the label is FDA-evaluated. The FDA doesn’t evaluate dietary supplements the way it evaluates pharmaceuticals. That’s the regulatory landscape; we play by the rules.†
We do promise:
- A real product, made with real ingredients, in real ratios that real research supports.
- Honest pricing. No hidden upcharges. Free shipping on every subscription. Cancel any time, no questions.
- Customer service that talks like a human. Email us. We’ll figure it out.
One more thing.

If you’ve made it this far, you probably already get what we’re about.
Snake Oil isn’t a wellness brand. It’s not a miracle cure. It’s not a productivity hack. It’s a recovery support formula designed by two guys who needed it to work, tested on the mornings of real people who needed it to work, made for adults who keep showing up.
There’s a subscription if you want the best price, a sampler if you’re just trying it, and bigger packs if you’re loading up. The math is on every product page.
