Affiliate Program Terms

1. Who can join

1.1 You must be 18 or older and a US resident.

1.2 Every application is reviewed by hand. We approve people who actually use the product and talk like themselves. We decline coupon-aggregator sites, deal-feed accounts, and anyone whose traffic we can't identify.

1.3 Approval is not permanent. We can end it under section 10.

1.4 You are an independent contractor. Not an employee, not an agent, and you can't speak or sign for SO Legit, LLC.

2. What you earn

2.1 Three levels. Everyone starts at Peddler.

Level Rate How you get there
Peddler 15% Starting rate
Pitchman 20% 10+ referred orders, trailing 90 days
Headliner 25% 25+ referred orders, trailing 90 days, or by invitation

2.2 Promotion is reviewed monthly. It is not automatic and it is not retroactive. A new rate applies to orders placed after we move you up.

2.3 Commission is calculated on the product subtotal after any discount, and excludes shipping and tax.

2.4 Every credited order pays, except subscription renewals. You earn on any qualifying order credited to you under section 4, including a returning customer's later one-time orders. A subscription pays on its first order only; renewals do not pay commission under these terms. If that changes, we will tell you in writing before it takes effect.

3. What doesn't earn

3.1 Some promotional offers are excluded from commission, and some orders pay a flat amount rather than a percentage. Which offers, and at what rate, is set out in the Commission Schedule in your affiliate dashboard. We keep it current.

3.2 Where an offer is excluded, you are still credited for the customer. If they buy anything else within the attribution window in section 4, that order earns at your current rate.

3.3 Your own purchases never pay commission.

3.4 Orders that are refunded, charged back, or cancelled pay nothing. See section 5.4.

3.5 Wholesale and retail orders are outside this program.

3.6 Orders bought for resale, or for any commercial use, earn nothing.

3.7 Orders placed after your participation ends earn nothing.

3.8 Orders where you paid for the click. If you offered anyone money, a rebate, points, a gift card, a charity donation, or anything else of value in exchange for using your link or code, that order doesn't earn. Your job is to recommend the product, not to buy the referral.

4. How we know it came from you

4.1 You get a tracking link and a personal discount code.

4.2 The link sets a 90-day cookie. If the customer buys within 90 days of clicking, you are credited.

4.3 A code entered at checkout takes priority over a cookie.

4.4 If two affiliates have a claim on the same order, the code wins. If neither used a code, the most recent click wins.

4.5 Cookies are a browser technology and they fail sometimes. We credit what our system records. We won't reconstruct attribution from screenshots.

4.6 Subscriptions credit through your link or your code. Either one gives the customer 15% off the first order of a subscription (section 8.2) and credits that order to you. Your link also covers a subscription started any time within the 90 days in 4.2, so if someone is still deciding, send them your link.

5. Getting paid

5.1 PayPal, monthly.

5.2 $25 minimum. Below that, the balance rolls forward.

5.3 Commission is held 30 days from the order date, matching our refund window, then approved for payout.

5.4 If an order is refunded or charged back after approval, the commission is reversed against your next payout.

5.5 Your W-9 comes first. After approval, your dashboard asks you to complete a W-9 and opens, with your link and code, once it is in. We use it only for tax reporting. No W-9, no payment: without one on file we would be required to withhold 24%. If your details change, submit an updated W-9 in your dashboard.

5.6 You are responsible for your own taxes. We report as required.

6. Disclosure — this one is not optional

Under the FTC Endorsement Guides, we are liable for what you say about our product. That is why this section is firm.

6.1 Every post, video, story, email, or comment where you promote Snake Oil must disclose that you earn from it.

6.2 The disclosure must be in your own words, in the post itself, where a person will actually see it:

  • Text post: first line, before "more" truncates it
  • Video: spoken aloud AND on screen
  • Story: on the frame, not in a reply
  • Audio: spoken

6.3 "#ad" or "#affiliate" is enough. Buried tags, a wall of thirty hashtags, a link in bio, or a platform "Paid Partnership" label on its own are NOT enough. The platform tag is a supplement, not a substitute.

6.4 A personalized discount code is itself a material connection. Handing out your code still requires disclosure.

6.5 We review affiliate content. If a post is missing disclosure we will ask you to fix it. Repeat failures end the relationship and forfeit unpaid commission.

6.6 If we ask to see a sample of your content, send it within five business days. We won't ask often, and it isn't an accusation when we do. The FTC expects us to actually monitor what our affiliates publish, and this is how we do that.

7. What you can and cannot say

These are the same six rules our own writers work under. They are reproduced in full as Attachment A. Read them once and you will never have to think about them again.

7.1 You may say the product helped YOUR morning. You may not say what it will do for anyone else's.

7.2 You may not quantify anything inside the proprietary blend except caffeine (100mg). Amounts printed on the Supplement Facts panel may be given to a customer who asks, but never used to lead a pitch.

7.3 You may not build content around NAC.

7.4 Use our photos, our copy, our claims. If you want to say something we haven't said, ask first. We will usually say yes, and we will say it in a way that doesn't get us both a letter.

7.5 Anywhere you make a benefit claim, carry the dagger and the FDA line in Attachment A. The dagger does not license a claim you otherwise couldn't make.

8. Your discount code

8.1 Your public code gives the customer 15% off. That is a hard ceiling. Our MAP policy holds authorized resellers to a maximum 15% advertised discount online, and we hold affiliates to the same line so that no channel undercuts another. This is our own pricing decision, not an agreement with anyone.

8.2 Your code works on one-time purchases and on the first order of a subscription. It does not apply to subscription renewals, and some plans may be excluded.

8.3 Your code does not stack with our other promotions.

8.4 If you are given a personal-use code at a deeper rate, it is for your own orders. Never advertise it, post it, or share it. Doing so ends the relationship.

8.5 Do not submit your code to coupon sites, deal forums, extension feeds, or aggregators. Codes found there are deactivated and the commission is reversed.

8.6 What counts as a coupon site. We decide this, and we'll be reasonable, but here is the test we use. A site or channel counts if more than 30% of its outbound links point at merchant pages with a discount attached, or if its navigation is organised around deals and savings rather than products. Also on the list: reveal-the-code and code-masking mechanics, cashback and rewards platforms, browser-extension deal tools, sub-affiliate networks, and deal forums. The line we're drawing is simple — your code should reach people who came looking for you, not people who came looking for a discount.

9. Where you can and cannot promote

9.1 No paid search on "Snake Oil", "Snake Oil Recovery", "snakeoilworks", misspellings, or any variant. We bid on our own name.

9.2 No ads that send traffic straight to snakeoilworks.com. Send it to your own content first.

9.3 No listing our products on Amazon, eBay, Walmart, or any other marketplace.

9.4 No unsolicited email, SMS, or DM blasts. Talk to people who chose to hear from you.

9.5 No sites built to look like ours, and no domains containing our name or a near-miss of it.

9.6 Nothing on a site carrying hateful, adult, or illegal content.

9.7 No content showing people under 21 drinking, and don't tie Snake Oil to underage drinking in any way. Whatever your own age, this one is about who is in the shot.

10. Ending it

10.1 Either of us can end this at any time, for any reason.

10.2 You may leave whenever you like. Approved commission still pays out on the next cycle.

10.3 If we end it for a breach of sections 6, 7, 8, or 9, unpaid commission is forfeited.

10.4 On termination, stop using our name, logo, photos, and codes, and take down active promotional content within 10 days.

11. The boring part

11.1 We can change these terms. Material changes get 14 days' notice by email. Continuing in the program means you accept them.

11.2 Our trademarks, tradenames and images are licensed to you only for promoting Snake Oil, only while you are in the program.

11.3 Arizona law governs. Venue is Pima County, Arizona.

11.4 We are not liable for indirect or consequential damages, and our total liability is capped at commission owed to you.

11.5 You are responsible for what you publish. If someone brings a claim against us because of something you posted, something on your site, or something you did in this program, you will cover our costs, including legal fees. This does not apply to claims arising from photos, copy, or claims that we supplied to you — if you used our material as we gave it to you, that one is ours.

Attachment A — the six rules

1. No disease claims. The product does not cure, treat, mitigate, prevent, diagnose, or heal anything, and it does not act on a named condition. Not negotiable anywhere.

2. "Hangover" is a noun. Use the word freely. The product does not cure, fix, kill, beat, or prevent one. That is the whole rule.

3. No organ-action verbs. Not "detox your liver", not "flush toxins", not "cleanse your system". The word "detox" as a noun is fine. Attached to an organ as a verb, it is not.

4. Results-based testimonials carry a typicality line. Keep your story and keep its punch. Add one line: "My morning, not a promise. Everyone's night, sleep and tolerance differ."

5. Blend amounts stay masked. Caffeine (100mg) is the only blend figure we disclose; nothing else inside the proprietary blend is ever quantified. Amounts printed on the Supplement Facts panel may be given to someone who asks, but never used to lead a pitch.

6. Carry the dagger and the disclaimer wherever you make a benefit claim:

†These statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.
